Calling all First Colony Neighbors!
It's that time again. It's time for PORCH. This occurs on the second Monday of every month. Please read more for details.
*** We don't go to houses for pick up unless notified. ***
PORCH is a volunteer-led, grassroots hunger relief organization that addresses food insecurity. It helps to ensure that local food pantries are stocked with items most needed each month. Recently, the PORCH Chapter in Williamsburg has been supporting local food pantries such as Williamsburg House of Mercy, FISH and Grove Christian Outreach Center.
September’s food drive will be for FISH.
HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO!
Please place non-perishable food or hygiene items on your porch (or end of driveway) on the morning of the second Monday of the month. Please do this by 9AM.
Below is the list of most needed items for FISH. All non-perishables are welcome, but their greatest needs at this time are:
- Cereal
- Tomato products (diced, sauce, paste)
- Dried Spaghetti & Other Pastas
- Canned Spaghetti Sauce
- Brownie Mix
- Pancake Mix & Syrup
- Canned Soups
- Canned Vegetables (peas, green beans, corn, mixed veggies)
- Canned Chicken, Tuna & Beef Stew
- Peanut Butter & Jelly
- Boxed Mac & Cheese
- Applesauce & Canned Fruits (in their own juice rather than heavy syrup)
- Laundry Detergent (42 ounces)
- Shampoo (14-22 ounces)
- Deodorant
- Toothpaste
- Tampons & pads (especially Maxi Pads)
- Larger-sized Diapers, sizes 4, 5 & 6
- Pull-ups, sizes 2-3T & 4-5T

If you plan to donate, please let me know, as we can't go to every PORCH in the neighborhood checking for donations. We will come to collect your donations if you email: firstcolonyporch@gmail.com
PLEASE LET ME KNOW in your comment or email if you prefer we pick up the donation at the end of the driveway or porch, etc., along with your address. Also, you can let us know if you plan to donate monthly.
For those of you who prefer to drop off the donation yourself (rather than having us come to your porch), you may go to the First Colony Park Picnic Pavilion the second Monday of the month between 8AM and 10:15AM.
First Colony will be participating in PORCH on the second Monday of each month (donations may go to different food pantries depending on the month).
