Named "Best Community in Williamsburg" in 2004 by the Virginia Gazette

Greater First Colony Area Civic Association

Welcome to the Greater First Colony Area Civic Association web site.  Here you can find information about the activities, amenities, clubs, and committees in our neighborhood.  The main purpose of this web site is to provide information in a convenient, timely manner for our members, residents, and friends.

"You belong" in Greater First Colony, so join your neighbors in supporting our community, participating in our many activities, and enjoying our beautiful amenities!

GFCACA is owned and supported by its members who are residents of First Colony, Heritage Landing, Shellbank Woods, Shellbank, First Colony Estates, and Chestnut Hill.

Unique:  Greater First Colony is unique in the Williamsburg area in being a non-gated community with a marina on the James River, an interior lake, a competition-sized pool, Division I swim team, lighted tennis courts, a fully equipped playground, and a baseball field.

Access:  As an association member, you and your family have automatic access to the park, lake, tennis courts, baseball diamond, the beach, and marina.  Your also receive free admission to several community-sponsored events.  Additional charges are incurred for the pool, boat launching, parking, and docking.

Value:  GFCACA dues are significantly less than Association dues in other communities with similar amenities.  Financial prudence together with lots of volunteer support give you tremendous bang for your buck.

Upkeep and Improvements: The Association maintains and beautifies our entrances each season.  The park is cleaned, planted, and mulched twice a year.  Playground equipment is checked, repaired, and replaced.  Last year the pool received needed mechanical upgrades and new chairs.  The marina has been dredged and the bulkhead was replaced to assure the continued safety of our boating, river swimming, and fishing members.  We have built a beautiful Clubhouse, which is available for resident and non-resident functions.

Security:  The Association places strong emphasis on protecting the safety and security of our members.  CURRENT stickers must be displayed on cars to use the park or marina.   Please report any unauthorized or threatening activity immediately to our neighborhood watch coordinator, Bob Kane, at 564-0099.
